I like making good cheap food. This is a fast recipe.

Chicken Ramen ~$2.50 per serving
  1. Throw a pack of chicken drumsticks in a pot. Add water and salt. Turn on stove. Let it cook for 2-3 hours. Add mushroom if you like (I do).
  2. Take out the chicken and pluck the meat at some point
  3. Cook some kind of pasta or noodle in the stock. I buy dry Udon noodles from a local Japanese market (it’s about $0.50 per bundle). Throw in cabbage and any other greens you like.
  4. Pour stock in bowls. Add meat. Put soy sauce on meat. Add scallion if you like.

Stock Tip: put some stock aside, add the leftover bones and fat from the plucked drumsticks and continue to boil. Then store the stock in an ice cube tray. You can use this for a fast veggie or egg ramen or for breakfast.
